I regard signs and forms as materials, repeating processes of deconstruction and reconstruction.
Paper was originally created to support human activities—to record, communicate, and wrap. I dissolve discarded paper, such as advertisements and packaging materials, in water, returning it to fibers before reconstructing it.
Embracing environmental changes such as dryness, humidity, and weather as part of the process, I explore moments in which the material itself emerges as image, crossing the boundary between support and medium.
Motifs are treated not as representations of specific objects, but as provisional signs for composition.
Through my work, I am interested in moments when familiar things begin to appear slightly different.
